Hundreds of Gambian pilgrims have begun their return journey home after successfully completing the Hajj rituals in Saudi Arabia.

The first group of 323 pilgrims checked in at Jeddah Hajj Airport this week, marking the start of the homebound process for the Gambian contingent. Many expressed satisfaction with their spiritual journey and gratitude for a smooth pilgrimage.

The departure was overseen by members of the Gambian Hajj Commission, including Amirul Hajj Sheikh Ebrahim Jarju and Gambia International Airlines Managing Director Numo Sanneh, who ensured all logistics and arrangements were in place for the safe return of the pilgrims.

Additional groups are expected to depart for Banjul in the coming days as the 2025 Hajj season officially concludes.
