Mamadou Jallow, a resident of Brikama Jalambang, is reeling from the shock of losing his wife, Jainaba Jallow, whose body was discovered in a well on Tuesday.
The tragic death of the mother of five has left her family and the local community in shock.
Jallow, who had two wives, followed his usual daily routine on Tuesday. He left for work in the morning, planning to return around 2 p.m. to have lunch with his family and spend time with his children.
However, when he returned, Jainaba was nowhere to be found.
“I came back after work, and she wasn’t there. I asked my other wife if she had seen her, but she hadn’t. So, I began looking for her,” Jallow says.
After searching for several hours, Jallow reported his wife’s disappearance to the Brikama Nyambai police.
A search was initiated, and police soon turned their attention to a nearby well. Using a rake, officers recovered Jainaba’s lifeless body from the well.
The discovery has sent shockwaves through the community. “I don’t know what happened,”Jallow says, his voice filled with disbelief.
Jainaba’s body has been transferred to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital, where an autopsy is pending.
Initial reports suggested foul play, but police say no visible signs of injury were found on the body during their preliminary investigations.
The couple’s five children, all teenagers, are now left to mourn the loss of their mother in the wake of this mysterious tragedy.
While police continue to investigate, the circumstances surrounding Jainaba’s death remain unclear.
Her family and the wider community are left searching for answers, struggling to come to terms with a loss that has left them shattered.
