IEC chairman Momar Njai

The Independent Electoral Commission, IEC, has postponed the voter registration scheduled for 14 January. 

The Commission’s chairman, Alieu Momarr Njai, said in a press statement: “The Independent Electoral Commission hereby wishes to notify the general public that due to logistic challenges beyond its control, the General Registration of Voters exercise which was schedule to commence 14th January 2021 has been postponed till further notice. 

“The new date for the voter registration will be announced in due course.”

Gambians will head to the polls on 1 December to elect the next president. There are currently 16 candidates for the 1 December presidential election.
