The Inspector General of Police, Seedy Mukhtar Touray, on Wednesday received Special Prosecutor Martin Hackett and his Legal Adviser, Senior State Counsel Mariama Singhateh, during a courtesy visit at the Police Headquarters in Banjul.

According to the police, the meeting focused on formal introductions and discussions surrounding the mandate of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, particularly the implementation of the Special Accountability Mechanism and the government’s commitment to justice and accountability in line with the recommendations of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC).

During the engagement, the IGP welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Gambia Police Force’s readiness to provide the necessary support and cooperation for the effective implementation of the initiative.

The police further stated that the Gambia Police Force remains committed to upholding its constitutional mandate and supporting national efforts aimed at promoting justice, accountability and the rule of law.
