The Gambia will be without defender James Gomez in their crucial World Cup qualifier against Kenya after the player withdrew from the squad to attend to personal matters.

The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) announced on Wednesday that Gomez had pulled out due to “urgent domestic matters in Banjul.”

However, sources close to the player confirmed that his wife recently delivered a baby girl, prompting his return home.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Scorpions continued preparations this morning at the Kasarani Stadium under head coach Johnny McKinstry.

Joseph Ceesay, the last player to join camp, also trained with the team for the first time.
