Alhagie Kolley, a senior news reporter for West Coast Radio, has died after briefly falling sick.

Gambian journalists have been paying tribute to the late Kolley, who they described as “a kind hearted and hardworking colleague with much respect”.

“Alhagie Kolley gave a voice to ordinary people across the four corners of The Gambia, and he did this with utmost determination and dedication. His demise is a huge loss to the media fraternity,” GPU President Muhammed S. Bah said.

“I last met him at the APRC press conference after the presidential election and he told me he was sick for two months,” another journalist colleague said.

Kolley will be laid to rest today (May 10) in his hometown of Faraba Banta.
