At least four people have died of injuries they sustained in a tragic accident in Kafuta, where a truck ran into a jubilant crowd of football fans on Saturday, leaving many injured.

Twenty-four still remain in hospital receiving medical attention.

The driver has been arrested and expected to be arraigned in court.

“Several victims have been treated and discharged at Brikama Health Centre, while 24 remain admitted at Ndemban Clinic. Sadly, the number of confirmed fatalities has increased to four (4) from our last update.

“The driver, a 30-year-old male, is in police custody and will be arraigned in court tomorrow. Investigations are ongoing to ensure justice is served,” police said.
