The Clerk of the National Assembly, Momodou A. Sise, has officially handed over his duties to Kalipha MM Mbye, marking a significant transition in the leadership of the Assembly.

The handover ceremony, held today (19 Dec.), was attended by both the Majority and Minority Leaders, and was presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, who also serves as the Chairperson of the National Assembly Authority.

Mr. Sise’s retirement comes after a distinguished tenure as Clerk, a role he has held since 2018.

His successor, Mr. Mbye, was appointed during the Second Extra-Ordinary Session of the 2024 Legislative Year, following a motion tabled by the National Assembly Authority on 19th October 2024. Mr. Mbye officially assumes his new position today.

In his remarks, Hon. Jatta praised Mr. Sise for his significant contributions to the National Assembly, acknowledging his dedication and service.

Mr. Sise, in turn, expressed his gratitude to the Members of the National Assembly and the staff for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.

He also conveyed his confidence in Mbye’s ability to continue advancing the work of the Assembly.

Mr. Mbye, who previously served as Deputy Clerk for Legal and Procedural Matters, expressed his deep appreciation for the opportunity to lead the institution. He pledged to continue striving for the progress and development of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly officially recognised Sise’s years of service and wished him well in his retirement, while extending a warm welcome to Mbye as he steps into his new role.
