Karanta Darboe, a man accused of serial theft and fraud, has become the centre of public attention following widespread allegations on social media.

Victims have claimed that Karanta employs deceptive tactics to steal money and valuables, leaving many frustrated and seeking justice.

The controversy took a dramatic turn after a TikTok video went viral, detailing accounts of his alleged crimes and accusing the police of inaction.

The video prompted an outpouring of reactions, with numerous people coming forward to share similar experiences. Some victims alleged that Karanta gained their trust by pretending to offer help or services, only to disappear with their belongings.

Community members say Karanta has been operating for years, targeting unsuspecting individuals, including market vendors, taxi drivers, and even close acquaintances. Many have described him as a smooth-talking individual who preys on people’s vulnerability.

The Gambia Police Force (GPF), in response to the public outcry, has called on all victims to visit the Kairaba Police Station to file official reports.

“We understand the frustration of the public and assure everyone that this matter is being taken seriously. We urge anyone who has been affected by this individual to come forward with evidence so we can proceed with a thorough investigation,” The Gambia Police said in a statement.
