Kebba Ceesay, co-founder of opposition Citizens’ Alliance, has launched a scathing attack on Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, the Minister of Information, accusing him of undermining his credibility by continuously defending President Adama Barrow in the face of growing criticism.

Kebba, who has been vocal in his opposition to the current government, criticised Dr. Ceesay for engaging in public spats with critics, particularly with journalist Fatou Touray.

He suggested that as a minister, Dr. Ceesay should maintain professionalism and avoid getting into such controversial exchanges.

“In his role as a minister, you should focus on defending the government’s policies, not getting into personal battles,” he said.

“Every time he goes back and forth with critics, it damages his integrity and public image. He’s no longer seen as the respected Dr. Ceesay but as someone who is constantly at odds with both the opposition and even members of the ruling party.”

He further pointed out that Dr. Ceesay’s relationship with the National People’s Party (NPP), which supports President Barrow, had soured. “No one in the NPP is supporting him now,” Kebba added.

“That’s the truth. Have you seen any member of the NPP defend him after his comments?”

The criticism from Kebba highlights the increasingly divided reception Dr. Ceesay is facing within both his party and the opposition.

“The opposition doesn’t trust him either because of his public statements. His credibility is on the line,” Kebba said, urging Dr. Ceesay to reconsider his approach.

He also raised concerns about the future of Dr. Ceesay’s political career, suggesting that if President Barrow were to remove him from office, he would be left without a strong political base. “What happens if the president sacks him tomorrow? Where does he go from there?” Kebba asked.

He also reflected on the broader issue of young political figures resigning from the Citizens’ Alliance, suggesting that the party should not allow talented members like Dominique to leave. “Why are so many young, brilliant people resigning from the party? The leadership needs to reflect on this,” he said.
