KMC Youth Councillor Kemo Bojang has  moved a motion to sue the minister of Local Government and Lands, Musa Drammeh and the suspended chief executive officer for Kanifing Municipal Council Sainabou Martin Sonko.

Mr Bojang proposed the motion during an emergency council meeting on Monday afternoon amid a stand-off between the mayor and the minister of Local Government.

“I have moved a motion in our emergency general council sitting for both the CEO be sued for trespass after trying to enter council [offices] three times even after suspension and also the minister be sued for costing the KMC and Gambia millions [of Dalasi] after disrupting a whole day’s work,” Mr Bojang said.

The minister on Monday deployed security forces to the KMC offices to forcefully reinstall the suspended CEO Mrs Sainabou Sonko who is facing corruption probe over missing D12 million.

The deployment of the security forces has been widely condemned by Gambians from all walks of life with many expressing disappointment in the government commitment to the fight against corruption.
