Lamin M. Jassey, the Secretary General of the Gambia Football Federation, is reportedly considering a bid for the Federation’s top job in the upcoming presidential election.
Information reaching Gambiana suggests that Jassey could be preparing to step away from his administrative role to contest for the presidency, a move that would see him transition from the Federation’s chief administrator to a political contender for its highest office.
Sources further indicate that Jassey is exploring the possibility of emerging as the much talked about government backed candidate.
At the same time, he is also believed to be lobbying within football circles to secure the endorsement of Team Kaba, the political camp associated with outgoing GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo.
Should he officially enter the race, Jassey’s candidacy could significantly reshape the dynamics of the contest, given his deep knowledge of the Federation’s internal operations.
With the election drawing closer and alliances quietly forming, the question remains whether Lamin Jassey will formally declare his bid and whose backing he will ultimately secure.
