The Ministry of Lands and Local Government has introduced a digital register that seeks to stop scammers and fraudsters selling a plot of land to multiple buyers.
The new system comes amid a rise in land fraud from unscrupulous real estate dealers and businesses.
Abba Sanyang, the minister of Lands and Local Government, said the digital system will help to expose land scammers in the country as well minimise land disputes.
“We have introduce a digital land buying to stop duplication of land sale. Anyone who buys land now is entered into a digital system which no one can duplicate,” Mr Sanyang said.
According to him, land dispute is “very much” addressed in the country now.
“The issue of land problem is very much addressed because many of the dispute over land have been reduced because we give everyone the right to a fair hearing [and redress].
“Anyone who comes to the ministry with a complain we investigate it and allow the courts to rule,” he added.
