A deepening internal division within the United Democratic Party (UDP) is approaching a boiling point, as the party’s heavyweights exchange savage blows on social media.
The latest showdown erupted between Nyawuru Komma and Latrikunda Sabiji MP Yaya Menteng Sanyang, with Komma unleashing a brutal social media attack, branding Mr. Sanyang a “liar and misinformant.”
The onslaught came after the MP defended Mayor Talib Bensouda, claiming he had made significant financial contributions to the party following his sensational withdrawal from the UDP’s standard-bearer race. Komma, however, dismissed the claims as a collection of lies and deliberate misinformation spread by the MP.
In an audio rant, Komma said he could no longer tolerate Mr. Sanyang’s ‘lies,’ despite having endured them for over a year.
“It’s been one year I kept quiet, but it is time to dispel your false information and lies as a dishonourable member like you, Yaya Menteng Sanyang. I challenge you to provide proof for your claims because what you said is a bunch of lies,” Komma launched a barrage of attacks on the MP.
Mr. Komma also explained how the UDP acquired its latest motorbikes and pickup vehicles, saying those items were lobbied for by the party leader while serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“Those motorbikes were received from the Chinese Communist Party, lobbied by the party leader. To avoid a conflict of interest as the then Minister of Foreign Affairs, these motorbikes were shipped into the country under the name of Ansuding Keita, and the clearing fees were paid by the party. I was among the people who went to collect these vehicles and motorbikes at the ports,” he added.
