United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Lawyer Ousainou Darboe has called on supporters to remain focused on defeating President Adama Barrow and his National People’s Party (NPP), describing their administration as a failure.

Speaking at the UDP diaspora convention in Seattle, where the party raised $111,631, Darboe urged unity, discipline, and restraint among party members, while extending an olive branch to political competitors.

“We must focus on the real opponent, President Adama Barrow and his failed NPP administration,” said Darboe.

“Let us respect all other opponents and competitors. We welcome the idea of working together in the interest of The Gambia.”

He cautioned against internal division and called on supporters to resist provocation, maintain discipline, and strengthen teamwork within party ranks.

“We must always strive to persuade others, and within our ranks, we must also strive at all times to be good team members,” he said.

Addressing the UDP diaspora, Darboe praised their continued contributions to national development.

“To our diasporans here in Seattle and in other parts of the world, you are not only senders of remittances, you are nation builders,” he said.

Looking ahead to the 2026 presidential election, Darboe outlined the party’s campaign strategy.

“Our mission for 2026 is simple, go to every room, go for every vote, secure the votes until they are cast and counted,” he declared.

The Seattle convention brought together UDP supporters from across the globe and was marked by renewed calls for change and coordinated political mobilization.
