The lifeless body of a 28-year-old woman has been recovered from a well in Jalanbang village.

Initial reports suggested foul play, but police have stated that their preliminary investigation found no marks of injury on the deceased.

In a statement, the police said: “The Nyambai Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 28-year-old woman from Jalanbang village, whose body was discovered in a well on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

“Preliminary investigations by the Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) revealed no signs of struggle or drag marks near the well. Additionally, the dimensions of the well’s opening suggest the deceased was likely unconscious or already deceased before being placed inside.

“The body has been transported to the hospital for a full postmortem examination to determine the cause and circumstances of death,” the statement continued.

The police have urged anyone with relevant information about the case to come forward and assist with the investigation.
