The Serekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) has announced the passing of Maccassa Football Club player Sarjo Jatta, who died while on his “Back Way” journey.

Sarjo Jatta represented Maccassa Football Club during the 2025 Nawettan season and was expected to rejoin the team for pre-season training ahead of the upcoming campaign. However, his untimely passing has brought shock and sadness to the club and the wider football community.

In a statement, the SESDO Executive Committee expressed its condolences, saying it deeply regrets the loss of the young footballer.

“The SESDO Exco regrets to announce the demise of Maccassa Football Club player Sarjo Jatta, who passed away on his back way journey. Sarjo Jatta, who played for Maccassa Football Club in the last Nawettan, was expected to commence training with the team as they prepare for the new season, but unfortunately the Lord has called him,” the statement read.

The thoughts and prayers of the football fraternity are with Sarjo Jatta’s family, friends, teammates, and Maccassa Football Club during this difficult time. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
