Former Senegalese President Macky Sall is expected to return to Dakar next week for a meeting with President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, according to local media reports.
The meeting is expected to take place on Friday, 17 July, although officials have yet to publicly confirm the visit.
Reports indicate that arrangements for Sall’s reception and stay in Senegal are still being finalised, with the matter expected to be discussed during an upcoming conference of government leaders.
According to local reports, Sall’s visit forms part of his diplomatic efforts to secure President Diomaye Faye’s backing for his reported candidacy for a senior position within the United Nations.
If confirmed, the meeting would carry significant political and diplomatic importance, bringing together Senegal’s current and former heads of state as Sall continues to seek international support for his reported UN bid.
