Former Senegalese President Macky Sall, who is a candidate for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations, on Thursday, 27 August 2026, participated as a panellist at the World Governments Summit in the United Arab Emirates.

The summit was held under the theme “The Future of Global Leadership.”

Sall said he addressed issues including the link between peace and development, the role of regional organisations, and challenges surrounding artificial intelligence.

In a post on X, the former Senegalese president congratulated the UAE authorities on what he described as the successful organisation of the summit.

Sall’s participation comes as he seeks to succeed António Guterres as the next UN Secretary-General.
