Mai Fatty has congratulated President Adama Barrow for successfully launching his own political party.

President Barrow’s National People’s Party

(NPP) was officially launched on Saturday at the Independence Stadium.

Mr Fatty, the leader of the opposition Gambia Moral Congress, described the launch of the new party as a sign of the growing strength of the country’s democracy.

“The birth of NPP plus new entrants, demonstrate this growing trend. It was the turn of the NPP to officially launch their own last Saturday. We welcome them into the arena and further congratulate them for conducting a peaceful event,” Mr Fatty said.

“Now, let us level the playing field and make it a contest of competitive ideas, not a confrontation. The Gambia will be better and our democracy shall be the winner. GMC is ready to lead, and The Gambia is ready for our leadership.”

Mr Fatty, who was a former advisor to the president, added “We stretch our hands of friendship and solidarity to all, as many of you genuinely respond to our message of progress, compassion and inclusion.

“A new dawn is imminent – a revolutionary era of reforms, rectification and sustainable prosperity.”
