A man has been found hanged to death in Sami Pachonki, raising growing concerns among the local community. Eyewitnesses have identified the deceased as Lalo Ceesay.
In an image circulating online, Ceesay is seen hanging from a tree, with a rope tied around his neck, as stunned locals gather around the scene.
A WhatsApp audio, purportedly recorded by Ceesay before his death and shared with Gambiana, reveals him pleading for forgiveness while describing the events leading to his death.
In the message, he claims that his killers lured him into a secluded area and kidnapped him, stating they promised him success if he survived.
“I have forgiven everyone, and I seek your forgiveness. I was called and am now in the bush. I’m telling my people where I am through WhatsApp. They are going to kill me here,” he says in the audio.
“They said they would hang me so my people would come for me. They also told me that if I survive, I might have a future. I was riding my motorbike when they called me to come,” he allegedly says in the message.
Gambian Police have opened an investigation into the death to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The public is encouraged to support the ongoing investigation by providing any relevant information that may assist the police,” police said.
