A man was found unconscious in the Nyambai Forest area of Brikama on Friday afternoon in what residents suspect may have been a robbery-related attack.
According to sources, the victim was discovered by passersby shortly after Jumu’ah prayers. Witnesses said he was lying motionless on the ground and appeared to have sustained injuries consistent with a severe assault.
Residents who responded to the scene reportedly found the man’s bag a few metres away from where he was lying. The bag had allegedly been emptied, prompting speculation that the victim may have been attacked and robbed before being abandoned in the forest.
The victim’s identity was not immediately established, and his condition remains unknown.
The circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, and it is not yet known when the alleged attack may have occurred.
The discovery has sparked concern among residents of Brikama and surrounding communities, with many expressing fears over what they describe as a rise in violent incidents in recent weeks.
Authorities had not issued an official statement on the matter at the time of reporting, and it remains unclear whether any arrests have been made.
Residents who gathered at the scene called for a thorough investigation to establish what happened and bring anyone responsible to justice.
The incident comes amid growing public debate over security and violent crime following a series of recent killings and assaults reported in different parts of the country.
Investigations are expected to continue as authorities work to determine the identity of the victim and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
