A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Sare Gillah, Toumana District, on August 14.

The victim is now receiving treatment at Basse Health Centre.

The suspect, Mamadou Salieu Dambale, a farmer in his 30s, fled the village and remains at large.

Police said a case has been opened and investigators are working round the clock to track him down.

They are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately.

The Gambia Police Force vowed to protect vulnerable children and ensure the suspect is caught and justice is served.
