A young man has sustained life-altering injuries after a firecracker exploded in his hand, leaving his right palm shattered.

Disturbing images shared with Gambianareveal the extent of the damage, with the man’s hand severely disfigured.

According to an audio message accompanying the images, the man delayed throwing the firecracker, resulting in the explosion.

“This young man said he was too late to throw the firecracker, and it detonated in his hand, causing this devastating injury,” the voice in the recording stated.

“This tragedy should serve as a warning. We must caution our children to stay away from firecrackers to avoid such accidents,” the message added.
