Marr Nyang, the founder of Gambia Participates, has been named an Anti-Corruption Champion by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
The award, which recognises individuals making significant strides in the fight against corruption, highlights Marr’s relentless commitment to transparency and accountability in The Gambia.
Speaking at the award ceremony in Washington, D.C., Marr expressed gratitude and shared his vision for empowering young people globally:
“It’s an absolute privilege to receive the Anti-Corruption Champions Award from Secretary Blinken earlier today at the State Department. Being the youngest ever recipient of this award makes the challenge of continuing the fight against corruption even greater. Yet, it also inspires young people around the world to believe that age is no barrier to achieving significant impact.”
Marr acknowledged the collaborative efforts that have fuelled his work.
“I want to thank my team at Gambia Participates, the government, parliament, judiciary, civil society organisations, and international partners who have supported and collaborated with me in advancing anti-corruption initiatives. This award is a testament to the power of teamwork and shared commitment.”
