Mary Sock has cautioned Gambian voters to be cautious of ‘incompetent’ politicians who will seek their votes in the 2026 presidential election.

Ms. Sock, whose bid for the presidency in the last election was rejected by the Independent Electoral Commission due to her failure to secure the required number of endorsements, issued the warning during a news conference in Bijilo.

She criticised the opposition for being divided, despite growing calls to unseat the Barrow government in the upcoming polls.

“There are politicians who can’t even control their own households, yet they want to be entrusted with governing an entire country,” she said, without naming any specific politician.

Now leading the Social Democratic Alliance,Ms. Sock added: “I have been saying this,  you can’t hold President Adama Barrow and his government accountable when you yourself are not being held accountable. So, be wary of these types of politicians.”
