Scorpions head coach Jonathan McKinstry has announced a refreshed squad for The Gambia’s upcoming international friendlies against Equatorial Guinea and Uganda marking the national team’s first friendly matches since November 2022.

The squad features several debutants, with domestic league star Alagie Wally earning a well-deserved call-up after netting 7 goals this season for Hawks FC. His inclusion highlights McKinstry’s commitment to rewarding in-form local talent.

Also making their senior debuts are Youssoupha Sanyang, a Gambian-born former Senegal U-20 international who has switched allegiance to The Gambia, and Abdoulie Manneh, a standout midfielder known for his composure and creativity in the Swedish top tier.

Other first-time call-ups include Musa Jatta, goalkeeper Jordi Bilal Danso, Muhamadou Drammeh, and Zakaria Sawo. Returning to the squad are familiar names such as Muhammed Sanneh, Baboucarr Gaye, Adama Sidibeh, and Alagie Saine.

Notably, Haruna Rashid Njie and Abubakr Barry were left out due to injuries, while senior players like Omar Colley, Musa Barrow, and Yankuba Minteh were rested after playing crucial roles for their clubs in long, demanding seasons.
