The Ministry of Health has revealed that its nationwide Covid vaccine rollout is being delayed by “fuel shortage”.

The revelation was made in the ministry’s latest situation report on the coronavirus pandemic in The Gambia.

The nationwide Covid vaccination programme started last month with President Adama Barrow receiving The Gambia’s first dose of the coronavirus vaccine on live television as part of a growing effort to convince the public that the vaccines are safe.

So far about 7,000 people have received their first dose of the vaccine.

The Ministry of Health have received thousands of doses of AstraZeneca and Chinese Shinipharm vaccines.

The Gambia’s coronavirus cases have surpassed 5,000 with over 100 deaths.
