Momodou Sabally, a senior adviser to President Adama Barrow, has responded to allegations regarding financial withdrawals during his time in office, saying he has nothing to hide.
He said: “We must take the full context into account. I appeared before the commission, and what I withdrew was actually more than D1.5 million, just to clarify. I always speak the truth, and I am not afraid because I am innocent.”
His remarks come amid renewed scrutiny from Alhagie Kurang, who has raised concerns over Mr Sabally’s financial dealings.
But the former secretary general dismissed the claims as an attempt to damage his reputation.
“If that is what Alhagie Kurang wants to use to tarnish my credibility, I want him to know that I withdrew more than that amount. The reason for those withdrawals is on record, and the remaining money is with Yahya Jammeh, whose assets were seized,” he said.
