Morocco defeated The Gambia 3–1 in a hard-fought encounter at the CAVB Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship in Tunis, Tunisia, with the Gambians once again showing they can compete against established opposition.

Morocco claimed the opening set 25–22, but The Gambia responded impressively in the second set. The Gambians showed composure and determination to take the set 25–20, levelling the match at 1–1 and giving themselves renewed hope of another major upset.

Morocco, however, regained control in the third set, winning 25–18 before closing out the match with a 25–16 victory in the fourth set.

The victory sees Morocco take the match 3–1, while The Gambia’s campaign continues in the knockout stage. The Gambians have secured qualification for the Round of 16 and will learn their opponents tomorrow.

For The Gambia, the tournament continues to provide valuable experience on the continental stage, with the side having already demonstrated their ability to win sets against some of Africa’s strongest volleyball nations.
