Mourners broke down in tears at the funeral of popular sports journalist Modou Lamin Sanyang, who was laid to rest today at Kunkujang Jaataya cemetery.

Sanyang, a staff member of Star TV/FM, tragically died on Friday in a road accident around the Abuko area. 

A huge crowd of mourners drawn from various walk of life, many of whom are youths, showed up at his funeral to pay their tribute.   

Dozens of them were brought to tears as various mourners shared their testimonies about the good character of the deceased.

Colleagues described Sanyang as a dedicated and hardworking professional, always punctual and respectful to everyone.

They remembered him as religious, respectful, committed and friendly, adding that his untimely death is a huge loss for the journalism profession.
