Mufti Ismail Menk, a televangelist Islamic scholar, has acknowledged Gambia’s development progress under President Barrow leadership.
The renowned scholar made the acknowledgement while meeting President Barrow at State House as he arrived on a private visit to supervise a charity, Abdullah Aid, which has been providing support in the country worth millions of dalasis.
In his speech, the Zimbabwea-born top scholar said: “definitely, one thing I noticed as soon as I landed in this country is the development –the roads have actually transformed the nation.
“I am here on private visit in order to supervise and look over the activities of Abdullah Aid which I am the global ambassador and MashaaAllah the work has developed so much, and we meet with His Excellency the President in order to inform him of the progress of Abdullah Aid and what has been archived. Basically, we have managed to assist with more than six hundred water projects and boreholes and more than 300 shelters in the past six years,” he added.
This is his second visit to the country after six years in which he was in the country to give a scholarly lecture. Hundreds of Gambians showed up to his lecture held at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
