The National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) has announced a planned power outage affecting several communities in the Greater Banjul area.
Electricity supply will be interrupted in Bakoteh, Sukuta and Brusubi Phase 2 on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The outage will last approximately six hours.
NAWEC said the shutdown is necessary to allow for the safe installation of two medium-voltage poles as part of the ongoing infrastructure works linked to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) SOKM Urban Road Project.
“This temporary interruption is essential to ensure the safety of our workers and the public while we carry out the required relocation works.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and advise customers in the affected areas to make appropriate arrangements,” it said in a statement.

Residents and businesses in the impacted areas have been advised to plan accordingly and prepare for possible disruptions, including power loss to electrical appliances and equipment.
The works form part of a broader effort to upgrade electrical infrastructure ahead of the upcoming OIC summit.
