Ousman Wadda, National People’s Party regional chairman for Banjul, has vowed that the city’s voters will unseat their mayor Rohey Malick Lowe in the upcoming local government elections.

The ruling NPP party is however yet to announce a candidate for the local government elections in April, amid plan to take control of Banjul and Kanifing Municipality councils from the main opposition United Democratic Party.

“We know we have gaps and those gaps should be closed. We did a mistake and we don’t want to repeat the same mistake we did in the National Assembly election. We want to take back Banjul for NPP. We have our agenda and we have lots of planning to take Banjul back,” he told Gambiana.

“To tell you the truth we are yet to have a candidate for Banjul for the mayoral election. But applications are coming in and we will vet every application and submit it to the executive for approval.

“Our objective and mission is to make sure NPP takes back Banjul in this upcoming mayoral election,” he added.
