The National People’s Party (NPP) has expelled its Youth President, Kebba Madi Bojang, along with other members, citing serious violations of the party’s constitution and ethical standards.
Among those expelled are Lamin Jatta, Co-opted National Executive Member; Lamin Touray, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Youth Wing; and Sainey Manneh, Regional Public Relations Officer for the West Coast Region.
According to a statement released by the NPP’s Deputy Spokesperson Seedy Njie, the party’s Executive Committee unanimously approved the resolution to remove the individuals from their respective positions with immediate effect.
“This decision was taken in response to actions and conduct by the aforementioned individuals deemed to be in serious violation of the Constitution and ethical standards of the National People’s Party,” Njie stated.
The expulsions come amid allegations that Bojang and his associates were attempting to form a breakaway political party to challenge President Adama Barrow’s bid for a third term in office.
Njie called on all members and supporters of the NPP to remain committed to the party’s principles and values.
“We urge all our members and supporters to remain loyal to the core principles, values, and constitution of the Party as we continue to pursue our collective mission of building a prosperous and democratic nation,” he added.
