The ruling National People’s Party (NPP) has retained its seat in the Banjul Half-Die by-election, defeating the opposition People’s Progressive Party (PPP) in a tightly contested race.
Bartholomew Bolo Colley of the NPP triumphed over Momodou Salieu Jallow of the PPP.
The by-election was held following the departure of NPP’s Momodu Bah, who went on an official trip to the Netherlands and has not yet returned.
In a statement issued by the ruling party, President Adama Barrow congratulated Colley on his victory and reassured Gambians that his government’s infrastructure development agenda would continue to benefit all citizens.
“This victory is not just a win for the NPP, but a triumph for development, democracy, good governance and the rule of law. It is, indeed, a positive sign for the 2026 presidential election, where we anticipate nothing short of a landslide victory,”the statement said.
