The ruling National People’s Party has welcomed defectors from the opposition United Democratic Party at its Churchill town headquarters.
Special presidential adviser, Momodou Sabally and agriculture minister Demba Sabally joined supporters of the ruling National People’s Party to give a heroic welcome to the defectors.
“UDP’s Lower Niumi Constituency head, Tijan Drammeh leads prominent personalities to cross-carpet together joining the ruling NPP.
“Among the key figures making the decision to join NPP today are Amat Mboob chairman for NBR Regional Wrestling Association, Mamat Jim Kebbeh, chairman of Medina Ward Sports Committee, Fatou Njie female mobiliser for UDP at Ndungu Kebbeh, and several other women,” NPP said in a statement shared with Gambiana.
Meanwhile, former army driver who appeared the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission Mafugi Sonko also joined the ruling party.
National People’s Party and United Democratic Party have been at a game of snatching members from each other as their political rivalry continue to heighten ahead of 2026 presidential election.
