
The National Unity Party (NUP) is mourning the loss of its Party Leader and Secretary General, Mr. Abdoulie Ebrima Jammeh, who passed away today following a brief illness. He died at Afrimed Hospital in The Gambia.
Mr. Jammeh, who also served as NUP’s presidential candidate in the 2021 election, was a respected public servant and political figure known for his dedication to national development and public service.
Before entering politics, he led the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) as Director-General for over nine years, earning praise for his professionalism and commitment to the country’s aviation sector.
In a statement, the NUP extended condolences to Mr. Jammeh’s family, friends, party members, and the nation, describing his death as a great loss to The Gambia.
“May Allah (SWT) grant him eternal peace and the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus, and may He give strength and patience to his loved ones during this difficult time,” the party said.
