About 172 people have tested positive for coronavirus bringing the total virus cases in the country to 2,288.

“This represents a 33% test positivity rate (172 out of 524 total tests performed),” the Ministry of Health said on Wednesday. 

The patients that tested positive for coronavirus are aged between 2 months to 94 years. The median age is 36 years. 

The ministry also said 14 people (13 men and 1 woman) have died of coronavirus taking the country’s death toll to 77. 

The Gambia has seen a spike in coronavirus cases with the Greater Banjul Area the worst affected region in the country.
