At least 35 stall shops have been burnt to ashes in Sunday morning fire outbreak in Brikama market, as well as huge sums of cash and valuable materials destroyed.
The fire is reported to have been started by faulty electrical wires.
This is the second devastating fire incidence in Brikama market in a year.
Dozens of shop owners have been left devastated as all their goods and merchandise have been destroyed in the fire.
Brikama market is one of Gambia’s biggest markets, but it has been labelled by thousands of residents within the region as the most neglected markets in the country.
Officials of Brikama Area Council could not be reached for comment.
