More than 700 staff of the Gambia Ports Authority who were transferred to Alport Banjul under a concession agreement are expected to submit a petition on Tuesday over what they describe as unmet welfare conditions.
The workers say the agreed terms following their transfer have not been implemented, prompting them to collectively sign a petition expressing dissatisfaction with management.
According to an invitation to media houses, over 700 staff members are expected to march to the GPA Head Office in Banjul on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, to formally present their concerns.

The petition was handed over directly to management at 9:00 AM at the GPA Head Office, with media organisations invited to cover the event.
The staff say their action is aimed at drawing attention to welfare issues that have persisted since the transfer to Alport, despite earlier agreements.
The planned march is expected to be one of the largest coordinated staff actions in recent months within the ports sector, involving over 700 workers seeking clarity and resolution on their working conditions.
