Police have tightened security operations within the Greater Banjul ahead of Eid al-Adha festival locally known as Tobaski.

“As the Muslim Ummah prepares to observe this years Tobaski with expectations of high circulation of both human and traffic visibility, the Gambia Police Force (GPF) has launched a special operation to boost security and keep the public safe and happy during the festive period.

“This operation which will see the deployment of security personnel at all vital or strategic locations and they will be conducting robust day and night patrols through out the country,” police said.

“Equally, intelligence officers will be deployed to help in the collection of intelligence on criminal activities.

“The operation will also see an increase in traffic management and observation to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

“All road users are reminded the Traffic Control Act will be strictly enforced during these exercise with a view to tackle road traffic accidents and other uncalled activities on the roads,” police added.

Police also asked the public to comply with traffic laws and regulations, report all incidents and help in the sharing of information.
