Police have launched a clampdown targeting motorbikes and bicycles supplying bread to shops and consumers.

Officers from the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) were seen wearing jackets marked “Police tasks Force”. The officers were seen seizing motorbikes from several bakeries in the Greater Banjul Area.

The police have not provided any reason behind the ban on motorbikes and bicycles for the supply of bread.

Motorbikes and bicycles are the most used mode of transport for supplying bread in the Gambia, which many Gambians use for consumption daily.

Gambiana will engage the spokesman of the Police on this matter.
