Police have confirmed the arrest of Mbemba Drammeh in connection with his claims regarding the 2021 presidential election.

Drammeh, who asserts that he is a founding member of the National People’s Party (NPP), caused a stir after his appearance on Kerr Fatou, where he alleged that the 2021 election may have been rigged.

In a follow-up statement, Drammeh promised to reveal more details in October 2025, prompting the ruling NPP to dismiss his claims as “false”.

The police issued a statement confirming Drammeh’s arrest on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, stating that he is currently assisting with investigations into the allegations he made during his appearance on the TV show Politic Katchaa.

“The remarks, made during his appearance on Kerr Fatou, included serious allegations of rigging in the 2021 presidential election,” a police spokesperson said.

“Given the national security implications of such claims, the Gambia Police Force (GPF) is committed to a thorough investigation to ensure transparency and accountability,” the police added.
