Police have launched a manhunt for a suspect following the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old auto electrician in Latrikunda German.

The victim, identified as Ebrima Njie, died after allegedly being stabbed on Monday night in what investigators believe stemmed from a dispute over the repair of a motor vehicle.

According to the Gambia Police Force, the victim reported to the Latrikunda German Police Post at around 8:48pm on 29 June, alleging that he had been stabbed by Buba Jallow, an adult male from the same community.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two men had earlier been involved in an altercation relating to vehicle repairs before the suspect allegedly confronted Njie near his workshop and stabbed him.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident.

The victim was rushed to the Kanifing General Hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.

Police said Crime Scene Investigators have since processed the scene, obtained witness statements and recovered several exhibits as part of the ongoing investigation.

The suspect remains on the run, with officers continuing efforts to locate and arrest him.

The Gambia Police Force appealed to members of the public to assist with information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest.

Anyone with relevant information has been urged to report to the nearest police station.

The case is being investigated as an alleged murder. Police have also released a photograph believed to be that of the suspect as part of efforts to trace him.
