The Gambia Police Force has issued an update on the ongoing investigation into the death of Fabakary Camara, 33, whose body was discovered outside a residential compound in Brufut on Saturday, 7 June 2025.
According to police, follow-up visits to the scene revealed that the compound is surrounded by a two-metre-high fence topped with barbed wire, which is usually locked from the outside. Investigators believe Camara may have forgotten his keys and attempted to scale the fence to regain entry.
Personal belongings, including bread and a flashlight, were found with the deceased. A preliminary report from Ndemban Referral Hospital indicates a head injury, raising the possibility that he fell while trying to climb the fence. However, this has not been confirmed.
A postmortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
