The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has released Mbemba Drammeh on bail as investigations into his allegations of election rigging continue.

Mr. Drammeh was arrested on Wednesday (Dec 25) following statements made during his appearance on Politic Katchaa, a political programme broadcast by Kerr Fatou, where he alleged irregularities in the 2021 presidential election.

The police say the allegations have “serious national security implications” and have assured the public of a thorough and transparent investigation.

While released on bail, Mr. Drammeh remains under investigation as authorities work to verify his claims. The GPF has urged citizens to remain calm as inquiries continue.
