Thousands of Gambians today vote in to elect their new leader with polls opened at 8am and voting is so far going smoothly.

President Adama Barrow who is being challenged by five opposition figures is expected to cast his vote at 11am in Banjul while his main contender Lawyer Ousainou Darboe will cast his vote in Pipeline.

Halifa Sallah is also expected to vote along with his wife in Serrekunda at 11am as Abdoulie Ebrima Jammeh of National Unity Party casted his vote in Brikama Nema where he promised to adresse the nation’s problems like economics and security.

Mama Kandeh of Gambia Democratic Congress and Essa Faal former lead counsel of the TRRC and independent candidate are also expected to cast their votes at their respective residences.
