President Barrow on Friday met with Banjul Muslim elders at the State House in Banjul.

The meeting is an annual Eid al-Fitr tradition in which the President and the elders address issues affecting the societies and pray for the continued peace and prosperity of the country.

During the meeting, the President expressed his delight that Gambian Muslims celebrated Eid on the same day, adding it is a sign for religious leaders to trust each other and unite.

The President used the opportunity to highlight some of his government’s current and future programmes aimed at improving the lives of all Gambians. He also urged the elders to preserve unity and all Gambians to join him in pursuing his development goals.

The Imam Ratib of Banjul Alhagie, Imam Alieu Mass Kah, also spoke at the event, thanking the President for the gathering and applauded him for his excellent leadership in further solidifying The Gambia’s place in the international world.

He encouraged Gambians to love, forgive, and care for one another while stating that the President deserved everyone’s support.
