President Adama Barrow has received Nigerian billionaire industrialist Alhaji Aliko Dangote at the State House in Banjul during the business leader’s visit to The Gambia for the 2026 Africa Caucus meeting.

Dangote, President and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, paid a courtesy call on President Barrow after arriving in the country to participate in the high-level continental gathering, which brought together African finance ministers, central bank governors and senior officials from international financial institutions.

The meeting provided an opportunity for discussions on strengthening economic cooperation, promoting private sector investment and advancing industrial development across Africa.

It also highlighted The Gambia’s efforts to attract strategic investors and deepen partnerships with leading African businesses.

Following the State House meeting, Dangote delivered a keynote address at the Africa Caucus 2026 held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre (SDKJICC), where he shared his perspectives on Africa’s economic transformation, industrialisation and the critical role of the private sector in driving sustainable growth.

Widely regarded as Africa’s richest businessman, Dangote is the founder and President of Dangote Industries Limited, a multinational conglomerate with interests in cement, fertiliser, sugar, petroleum refining and other sectors.

His visit underscores The Gambia’s growing role as a host of major continental events and its commitment to strengthening economic ties with influential African business leaders and investors.
